PUDR strongly condemns the custodial torture of young dalit labour activist Shiv Kumar working in the Kundli Industrial Area by Haryana police. Shiv Kumar was arrested under 3 FIRs (no. 649 of 28/12/20 and nos. 25 and 26 of 12/1/21, Kundli PS) against workers who were protesting to demand their pending wages in Kundli Industrial Area, Haryana.

PUDR strongly condemns the arrest of Bengaluru based Disha Ravi, a twenty-two-year-old environmental and climate change activist on 13th February in the ‘toolkit’ conspiracy case for which she has been charged with sedition, criminal conspiracy and for promoting hatred. She was produced before a Metropolitan Magistrate in Patiala House on Sunday, 14th February and remanded to five days of police custody.

PUDR conducted a fact-finding to probe into the incident of mass termination in a mobile phone manufacturing unit in Noida, Uttar Pradesh where around 180 workers were thrown out of job without any prior notice on 29th November 2018. The abysmal and appalling nature of employment being generated under the 2015 ‘Make in India’ drive becomes starkly visible in this manufacturing unit called Hipad Technology India Private Limited situated in Noida Sector 63, making phones for Chinese companies Oppo and Xiaomi.

18 मार्च 2017 को हरियाणा में गुरुग्राम सेशंस कोर्ट ने मारूति कंपनी के 31 बर्खास्त कामगारों को सज़ा सुनाई, जिनमें से 13 मजदूरों को उम्र कैद की सज़ा सुनाई गई। इन सभी को अदालत ने हफ्ते भर पहले 10 मार्च 2017 को दोषी करार दिया था। अतिरिक्त सेशंस जज आर.पी. गोयल ने 117 कामगारों को बरी कर दिया। इन सभी को 5 साल पहले गिरफ्तार किया गया था और 2 से 4 साल तक जेल में रखा गया था। जिन 13 कामगारों को सबसे कड़ी सज़ा दी गई है वे मारूति यूनियन के सक्रिय सदस्य और पदाधिकारी थे।
