On August 18, a report titled “Corporate Loot and People’s Resistance in Niyamgiri” was released at the CDRO Convention on UAPA and other Draconian Law held in Jalandhar, Punjab. The report is an outcome of a joint fact-finding visit by a 16-member team from April 26-28, 2019 from All India Coordination of Democratic Rights Organization (CDRO) and Ganatantrik Adhikar Suraksha Sangathan, Odisha (GASS) to villages of the Niyamgiri area in both Raygada and Kalahandi districts of Odisha.
PUDR condemns the arrest warrant issued against Stan Swamy, Aloka Kujur, Vinod Kumar, Rakesh Roshan Kiro and Babita Kashyap on 19 June 2019, in relation to FIR filed on 26 July 2018 for waging war against the state, sedition, conspiracy, and Sections 66 and 66A IT Act based simply on their Facebook posts.

A 16-member fact-finding team of All India Coordination of Democratic Rights Organisation (CDRO) and Ganatantrik Adhikar Suraksha Sangathan, Odisha (GASS) had been to Niyamgiri area and Vedanta Plant site, Lanjigada and spent three days from 26th to 28th April, 2019 there. All members got divided into two teams. One team visited various villages of Niyamgiri like Lakpadar, Belang Mandal and Dangamati to investigate violation of human rights in the region.
People’s Union For Democratic Rights (PUDR) strongly condemns the killing of Telugu Desam MLA, K. SarveswarRao, and a former MLA, Silveri Soma, in Liviriputtu in Dumbriguda Mandal of Vishakhapatnam district on September 24, 2018 allegedly by members of the CPI (Maoist). As per news reports, the incident happened when the two politicians were returning to Araku and their vehicle was intercepted by a slogan shouting group of Maoists, and the weapons carried by the personal security officers of the two were snatched.
Between the 5th and 7th of May 2018, a combined fact-finding team of 40 members from the Coordination for Democratic Rights Organisation (CDRO), Indian Association of Peoples’ Lawyers (IAPL) and Women against Sexual Violence and State Repression (WSS) visited the district of Gadchiroli in Maharashtra.

An 18 members team, consisting of 7 organisations belonging to the Coordination of Democratic Rights Organisation (CDRO) visited Nagar Nar and met leaders of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) unions working in National Mineral Development Council’s (NMDC) Nagar Nar Steel Plant and listened about their long drawn struggle against privatisation of this plant.
