Peoples Union for Democratic Rights (PUDR) mourns the death of a friend and our former Executive member Neelabh Mishra. Neelabh breathed his last on 24th February 2018 at 07.30AM at Apollo Hospital, Chennai where he had been receiving treatment for non-alcoholic liver failure.
Neelabh had been associated with the Civil Liberties and Democratic Rights movement right from its inception. A long-time defender of civil rights, he had also been associated closely with the Peoples Union for Civil Liberties till his last breath.
Neelabh was a Senior journalist, who started his career with Mukti Marg. Later he was associated with various newspapers, magazines and electronic media like Navbharat Times, Outlook Hindi, Navjeewan, News Time, Enaadu TV and National Herald etc. His work reflected his concern for the marginalised persons of the country. His journalism was marked by truthfulness and fearlessness. He was extremely warm and open to discussion with budding journalists.
PUDR will miss a fellow traveller. He will be remembered for being hopeful even in times of the worst of repression.
