Peoples Union for Democratic Rights mourns the death of Professor Randhir Singh, who passed away on Sunday 31st January, 2016. He was teacher par excellence to many, guide and philosopher to many more. For us he spanned the pre and post 1947 India which was marked not only by his scholarship grounded in opposition to exploitation and oppression, but one enriched by his activism from his student days. The PUDR collective as well as its individual members benefitted from his counsel and critical reflections. He remained Special Advisor to PUDR and was party to many momentous discussions and decisions of PUDR, besides music and poetry sessions. Above all he inspired us and engaged with us, something which we will most dearly miss.
